Anticipation builds for Welcome Neighbor Day

By Kevin Thranow

Welcome Neighbor Day expands yet again with the confirmation of a new carnival vendor, who will kick off the weekend at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, September 14, and continue until Sunday evening.

Mission city officials said that Main Street will be  closed to accommodate the carnival rides, and that most of the other Welcome Neighbor Day events will take place at Mission City Park. Advance purchase tickets for carnival rides are available at the city office at a discounted rate, and $20 wristbands for unlimited rides on Sunday, starting at noon, are also available.

This year’s festivities promise to be a good time for everybody, with a motorcycle and classic car show sponsored by the Sicangu Drifters motorcycle club, kids’ games, archery competition, horseshoe and softball tournaments, water fights hosted by the Mission and Rosebud fire departments, and a 5K walk/run on Saturday morning.
