TODD COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT

The November 5, 2019 Student Hearing Meeting of the Todd County School District Board of Education was held in the Board Room of the District Office. 

Board President Debra Boyd called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. All motions carried unanimously, unless otherwise stated.

MEMBERS PRESENT: Board President Debra Boyd, Board Vice President Linda Bordeaux, Board Member Michelle Allen, Board Member Shelley Means.

MEMBERS ABSENT: Member Tim Cournoyer

ADMINISTRATION PRESENT: High School Principal Randy Pirner

OTHERS PRESENT: Attorney Paul Jensen

Motion by Bordeaux, second by Means to adopt the agenda.

Motion by Allen, second by Means to appoint Attorney Paul Jensen as Board Hearing Officer.

Motion by Means, second by Bordeaux to enter Executive Session at 5:32 p.m. for Student Hearing #1, in accordance with SDCL 1-25-2(2).

The President reconvened the meeting at 5:47.

Motion by Bordeaux, second by Means to recommend, as per Student Handbook, to uphold the Superintendent’s recommendation of long-term suspension through the end of the first semester for the 20-19-20 school year, which ends January 17, 2020, for Student #1, for a Class IV Drug Violation.

Motion by Means, second by Bordeaux to enter Executive Session at 5:45 p.m. for Student Hearing #2.

The President reconvened the meeting at 6:32 p.m.

Motion by Means, second by Bordeaux to recommend to uphold, as per Student Handbook, the Superintendent’s recommendation of long-term suspension through the end of the first semester for the 2019-20 school year, which ends January 17, 2020, for Student #2, for a Class IV Drug Violation. (Vote 3-0-1, with Means not voting).
