November 1, 2017

The meeting of the Todd County Commissioners was called to order by the Chairman in the Commissioner Room at the County Building at Mission on November 1, 2017 at 10:07 a.m. Roll call showed Board members Gregg Grimshaw, William Giroux, Patsy Valandra, Alec Whipple and Marshal Tinant. Also present was Auditor Barbara DeSersa.

Sonja Lurz, Highway Secretary, was asked to come to the meeting. The State was asking if the Todd County Building had another office they could rent for Probation purposes. They already rent an office in the Todd County Building and would like to rent another one. Mrs. Lurz told the Commissioners which offices were available. One is a little bigger than the other one. Barb DeSersa, Auditor, will contact the State and give them the options.

Whipple made the motion, seconded by Giroux, that the minutes from the meeting held October 18, 2017 be amended the “Roll Call to adjourn should read Ayes: Grimshaw, Tinant and Whipple. Absent: Giroux. Nays: Valandra” and approve the minutes as amended.

Roll call: All ayes. Motion carried.

Hugh Storms, Highway Superintendent, came to the meeting to give his report. The crews are patching roads now. The County has 3500 to 4000 Ton of gravel left. The gravel project on Kalblinger road is finished. Discussion was held on various roads. The snow wings are ready to be put on the blades when it’s necessary. Mr. Storms would like to buy a tree mulcher for $29,000.00. No decision was made at this time.

The Auditor’s Account with the Treasurer was presented for the approval of the Board as follows:

To the Honorable Board of County Commissioners Todd County:

I hereby submit the following report of my examination of the cash and cash items in the hands of the County Treasurer of this County as of October 31, 2017:

Total amount of deposits in banks $2,208,135.30

Total amount of actual cash 615.30

Total amount of checks and drafts in Treasurer’s possession not exceeding three days 36,678.80

Itemized list of all items, checks and drafts which have been in the Treasurer’s possession over three days

John Traversie 97.45; Andrea Iron Heart 102.50; Credit Card 239.30; Postage, Freight, Exp. 1,327.50 Co. License & Title; TOTAL $2,247,196.15

Whipple made the motion, seconded by Tinant, that the Auditor’s Account with the Treasurer be approved as presented.

Roll call: All ayes. Motion carried.

At 11:00 a.m. the public hearing on the budget supplement to the 2017 Jail Budget was held as advertised. No one appeared to protest. Tinant made the motion, seconded by Giroux, to adopt the following:

RESOLUTION (39-2017):

Be it Resolved by the Todd County Board of Commissioners to hereby supplement the 2017 Jail Budget in the amount of $9,000.00.
